Before the announcement of Randy Moss's departure from the New England Patriots nobody really knew anything about it. The NFL did a very good job of making sure that no information was released at all prior to the actual trade and placement of the star wide receiver. Therefore, there was a lot of tension and anger created towards Moss by teammates and coaching staff. However, out of all the commotion, the one incident that made it to the news was a feud involving Moss and former quarterback and close friend, 3 time superbowl MVP, Tom Brady.
Apparently, following the announcement of Moss's departure in the New England Patriots practice locker room, the universal feeling of the team was shock and betrayal, mainly in the mind of Brady. Over the past few years Brady and Moss have become a famous duo, both as teammates and as friends. They're chemistry on the football field is historic and some there has never been a better QB/WR match up in the history of the game. Throughout they're time together on the 'Pats' they have broken and set numerous NFL records. For instance, Highest total passing touchdowns in a regular season: 50 (2007), Highest total passing touchdowns in a season: 56 (2007), Highest total passing touchdowns in a season: 56 (2007), Highest completion percentage in a single game: 92.9% (2007), Most games with three or more touchdown passes in a regular season: 12 (2007), most touchdown passes in a month: 20 (October 2007), most touchdown receptions in a season - 23 (2007), most seasons with 17 or more touchdown receptions - 3 (1998, 2003, 2007), most seasons with 16 or more touchdown receptions - 3 (1998, 2003, 2007), most games in a season with at least 2 touchdown receptions - 8 (2007), most touchdowns scored in first 10 games with a new team - 16 (2007), and four 100+ yard games in his first four games with a new team in 2007). All this time and accomplishment together, followed by an immediate departure mid-season apparently resulted in Tom Brady becoming very angry.
The two ex-teammates began to yell and argue with one another. The altercation apparently escalated rapidly and almost became physical. When they got ahold of one another the rest of the team immediately broke them up and separated them.
Since the incident and the departure of Randy Moss to the Minnesota Vikings, Moss and Brady have patched up their relationship and remain friends. They claim that when emotions run high it is always the competitive athlete that comes out and that their friendship was never really in jeopardy. Since Moss left, the Patriots have won 4 straight games including a game versus Moss and the Vikings (28-18), where Moss had zero catches in the first half.
